Export ban causes anger

Laura Basham - The Nelson Mail | Thursday, 05 June 2008

Horticulture New Zealand is furious at MAF Biosecurity's suspension of fresh tomato and capsicum exports, saying it could be devastating for export markets and thousands of jobs.

MAF Biosecurity New Zealand on Wednesday withdrew phytosanitary certification for the exports until further notice, because of a plant disease transmitted by a small insect called tomato potato psyllid, which is widespread throughout New Zealand.
