Inventor banishes vinebud blues

An invention that began as a length of wood and a doormat may now be the answer to banishing bud-rubbing backache for good.

Bud rubbing is a seasonal vineyard job carried out in late spring to remove unwanted growth in the lower trunks of grapevines. Traditionally, the job entails bending or squatting beside the plant while physically rubbing the buds from the trunks using thick knobbled gloves .
