Food prices up 28pc and rising

Supermarket food prices have risen 28 per cent in the last year and prices will keep rising, a survey has shown.

The survey by the New Zealand Herald showed shoppers could expect price rises on all supermarket items because of the global food crisis.

The paper said an average trolley of food cost 28.5 per cent more this week than a year ago, mainly because of huge dairy price increases.
